Ask any Moser’s Shoes customer what sets this Peoria mainstay apart, and you’d undoubtedly hear about the quality shoes they sell. However, what truly sets Moser’s a step ahead, is a tradition of legendary service.
Started in 1918 by John Moser, a German cobbler from Chicago, for 100 years, Moser’s has been run by John and his descendants. First passed to his son, John Moser, Jr., then to his grandchildren, Frances Ragains and James Fawley, the business is now run by John’s great-grandson, Steve Fawley, who does business by the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.”
“The products Moser’s sells are great, but it’s service that sets us apart,” Fawley says. “Asking a shoe size and handing out a pair of shoes is not service. Our salespeople still measure customers’ feet and spend time learning their needs.” His staff of four often suggests a size and style that will work best. “We fit shoes on customers with orthotics and drop foot braces, and physicians often send patients to Moser’s for the proper fit and care needed.”
Moser’s sells comfort shoes like SAS, Rockport and New Balance, and carries a variety of shoes for very narrow and extra wide feet, in sizes up to 17. They also sell Red Wing, Worx and Irish Setter work boots, and provide footwear for commercial accounts.
